Smart Virtual Classroom is a scheduled, online, teacher-led pedagogical intervention where, unlike conventional classrooms, teachers are not present with learners physically but instead interact through public network in an online learning environment. DIETs/Schools can act as a mentor where specialized faculty can take the lecture and those lectures / teachings can be beamed live to the far end schools/DIETs in an interactive manner over the internet.
 
ERNET India has established Smart Virtual Classrooms in 3279 Schools and 54 DIETs across the states of Assam, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana. ERNET India is continuously working on the newer technology in order to promote the technology enabled teaching and learning concept for deriving prosperity in education through innovation.
